Man Meal. Old Bay Buffalo Shrimp. PBR.

By on August 10, 2012

The ladies away, a man’s house.  Something spicy.  Salty crackers.  Cold beer.  Bingo.

The Goods:

The Prep:

Stir together Frank’s, butter and Worcestershire in a pan over low heat to melt butter and get it all together.  With scissors, snip open the underside shell of the shrimp (shrimps? is that already plural?).  Steam, covered, over boiling water 2-3 minutes. Toss with a liberal dusting of Old Bay and a bit of the warmed hot sauce. Serve with saltines and ice cold PBR, remaining hot sauce on the side.

The Eat:

Suck.  Peel.  Dip.  Eat.  Cracker.  Beer.  Nice.

The Takeaway:

This is a riff on a day with my brother-in-law some years back.  Way down low-country south.  A run down boat bar on the intracoastal waterway, killing time while the ladies were out and about.  Nowhere to go, nothing to do.  We about cleaned them out of shrimp.

p.s.  I use medium shrimp for this.  I find the bigger ones get tough.  Leaving the shells on helps keep things tender and tasty.  Makes the meal a fun hot mess.

I’ve made something akin in the past and it’s superb…except…PBR? I wouldn’t wash my feet in that stuff.
